In den letzten zehn Jahren seines Lebens übernahm er das Amt des Bayerischen Ministerpräsidenten, das er selbst oftmals als das "schönste Amt der Welt" bezeichnete. Auch hier gab er bundespolitische Anstöße und setzte politische Weichenstellungen zum Wohle Bayerns um, deren Auswirkungen bis heute spürbar sind.Die Ausstellung beleuchtet schlaglichtartig die wichtigsten Stationen des politischen und privaten Lebens von Franz Josef Strauß. Sie ist weder umfassende Gesamtdarstellung noch abschließende Würdigung. Sie will an eine Persönlichkeit erinnern, die mit ihrem ganzen politischen Gewicht, ihrem Engagement, ihrer Erfahrung und ihren internationalen Beziehungen maßgeblich zur politischen Entwicklung und Historie Bayerns und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland beigetragen hat.Eröffnung der Ausstellung ist am Sonntag, 29. September 2013 um 11.30 im 2. Stock des Gemeindehauses mit einem Stehempfang, zu dem alle Rotter herzlich eingeladen sind.

Eine Ausstellung der CSU Rott am Inn in Zusammenarbeit mit der Hanns-Seidel-StiftungFranz Josef Strauß war unbestritten einer der wichtigsten deutschen Politiker. Am 3. Oktober 1988 verstarb der Vorsitzende der Christlich-Sozialen Union und Bayerische Ministerpräsident überraschend im Alter von 73 Jahren in Regensburg. Die CSU Rott am Inn in Zusammenarbeit mit der Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung nimmt den 25. Todestag zum Anlass, mit einer Ausstellung an diesen leidenschaftlichen homo politicus zu erinnern. Vom Beginn seiner politischen Betätigung als Landrat in Schongau über sein jahrzehntelanges Engagement in unterschiedlichen Funktionen und Ämtern bis zu seinem überraschenden Tod und sogar darüber hinaus, bis heute, findet er öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit und das Interesse der Medien. Er prägte in über 40 Jahren als "parlamentarisches Urgestein", seit 1948 zunächst als Abgeordneter im Wirtschaftsrat und ab 1949 im Deutschen Bundestag, als Mitglied verschiedener Bundeskabinette, 1980 als Kanzlerkandidat und von 1961 bis 1988 als CSU-Vorsitzender die Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland an entscheidenden Stellen mit.
