Zwar ist es bedauerlich, dass der gegenwärtige Betreiber des Vollsortimenters in Rott nach Ablauf des Vertrages in drei Jahren diesen Markt schließen will. Nach Aussage von Herrn Schaber steht jedoch einer lückenlose Nachfolge durch einen anderen Betreiber nichts im Wege, da "unterschriftsreife Verträge" vorhanden seien. Hier wünschen wir uns, dass der Eigentümer der Immobilie rechtzeitig tätig wird. Um nunmehr zu einer raschen Lösung für den fraglos wichtigen Discounter in Rott am Inn zu kommen, beschloss der CSU Vorstand in Ermangelung weiterer möglicher Flächen, die Bebauung des Grundstücks an der Staatstraße 2079 gegenüber dem Wertstoffhof mit einem Discounter zu unterstützen. Die Vorteile dieses Standorts liegen darin, dass das Grundstück der Gemeinde bereits gehört und ohne weiteres kurzfristig an einen Interessenten verkauft werden kann, wodurch eine schnelle Bebauung mit einem Discounter ermöglicht wird. Zudem läßt sich dadurch das Ziel der CSU, den Vollsortimenter im Ortskern zu erhalten, erreichen.

In seiner letzten Sitzung am 12.09.2013 nahm der Vorstand der CSU Rott am Inn die Äußerungen des EDEKA-Betreibers in der Wasserburger Zeitung vom 07.09.2013 zum Anlass für eine ausführliche Diskussion um den Discounterstandort. Tatsache ist, dass bei der Rotter Bevölkerung der dringende Wunsch nach einem Discounter am Ort besteht, der in Ergänzung zum vorhandenen Vollsortimenter ein umfangreiches Angebot der Nahversorgung bereitstellen soll. Tatsache ist jedoch auch, dass trotz entsprechender Ankündigung und einer deutlichen Mehrheit im Gemeinderat auf Seiten des Bürgermeisters in den letzten 5 Jahren keine Lösung für einen Standort gefunden werden konnte. Aus Sicht der CSU sind hierfür auch handwerkliche Fehler des Bürgermeisters verantwortlich.
