Das ließen sich die drei Strauß-Weggefährten nicht zweimal sagen und gaben kurzweilige Anekdoten zum Besten. „Der Stehempfang lief wie ein Familientreffen ab. Es war eine sehr gute Atmosphäre“, berichtete daher Rotts CSU-Bürgermeisterkandidat Florian Lemmrich. Lemmrichs Ortsverband mit Sebastian Mühlhuber an der Spitze hatte den Stehempfang ausgerichtet. Mühlhuber eröffnete den Stehempfang mit einer kurzen Begrüßungsrede. Bei dieser Gelegenheit dankte er der scheidenden örtlichen Landtagsabgeordnete Annemarie Biechl für ihren langjährigen politischen Einsatz für die Region.Zwischen Gottesdienst und Stehempfang legte Seehofer noch einen Kranz an der Strauß-Familiengruft nieder. Dazu schoss eine Abordnung der Tegernseer Gebirgsschützen Salut und es spielten Bläser der Bereitschaftspolizei. Zuvor hatten bereits die Vertreter der CSU-Landesgruppe und der CDU/CSU-Bundestagsfraktion Kränze abgelegt.Im Rotter Gemeindehaus erwartete unterdessen die Gäste die Strauß-Wanderausstellung der Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung. Die Gäste nahmen die Gelegenheit zu einer Besichtigung zahlreich wahr. Entsprechend prominent lassen sich die Namen der jüngsten Einträge in das Gästebuch der Ausstellung lesen.

Am 3. Oktober beging die CSU im Heimat- und Begräbnisort von Franz Josef Strauß in Rott am Inn seinen 25. Todestag. Zunächst fand dort ein Gedenkgottesdienst in der Pfarrkirche statt, der bei den rund 350 Kirchenbesuchern auf große Begeisterung stieß. Ortspfarrer Klaus Vogl bekam für seine Predigt Applaus von Horst Seehofer und sogleich auch von der restlichen Gottesdienstgemeinde. Seehofer schätzte an der Predigt, dass Vogl abwägende, aber trotzdem positive Worte für den Verstorbenen fand.Mittlerweile genug gesagt hätte auch er selbst anlässlich der zahlreichen Gedenkfeiern der vergangenen Wochen. Das bekundete Seehofer schmunzelnd bei seiner Ansprache beim anschließenden Stehempfang im Bürgersaal von Rott. Deshalb forderte er spontan Edmund Stoiber, Erwin Huber und Peter Gauweiler auf, kurz von ihren persönlichen Begegnungen mit Franz Josef Strauß zu berichten.
