In der Gemeinderatssitzung vom 27.09.2016 war man sich einig, dass gegen das übermäßige Pflanzenwachstum im Rotter Ausee unbedingt geeignete Maßnahmen ergriffen werden müssten. Die Situation hatte sich in diesem Jahr durch „explosionsartige“ Ausbreitung von Wasserpflanzen derart verschärft, dass sich die Gemeinde jetzt in der Pflicht sieht, den beliebten Badesee der Rotter zunächst einmal „mähen“ zu lassen. Dazu wird ab nächster Woche für drei Tage eine sogenannte „Seekuh“, ein Boot mit einer Mäheinrichtung zum Einsatz kommen, das die bis an die Oberfläche reichenden Pflanzen am Grund des Sees abmähen wird. Grundsätzlich sei es aber nach Aussagen eines Fachmanns nötig, weitere Schritte zu unternehmen. In dem um 1975 herum entstandene See, der ursprünglich ein Baggersee zur Kiesgewinnung für den Bau der Innstaustufe war, ist in den rund 40 Jahren seither eine etwa 50cm mächtige Schlammschicht entstanden, die nach Aussage des Fachmanns sowohl Zu- wie auch Abfluss massiv beeinträchtigt, was sich zusammen mit dem Nährstoffeintrag durch den mittlerweile sehr dichten Pflanzenbewuchs am Ufer negativ auf die Wasserqualität auswirkt und zudem das Pflanzenwachstum im See befördere. Über die Wintermonate will die Gemeinde jetzt zusammen mit Eigentümern und Pächtern über geeignete langfristige Maßnahmen nachdenken, damit ab nächstem Jahr wieder ungetrübte Badefreuden möglich sind.
